Private residence

CHARLESTON, SC

Interior Design Project No 148

Situated on a winding river bank, this home is a marriage of Lowcountry vernacular and Italian style.  The structure was created to evoke the feeling of a renovated farmhouse with fresh and modern fittings.  The home has a strong relationship to the exterior courtyard, terraced decks and yard.

A fresh, floral wallpaper and silver-leaf antler chandelier are modern counterpoints to the surrounding antiques, showing that classic design of any era can be mixed successfully.

A fireplace clad with book-matched, Italian Marble slabs, captures the juxtaposition of nature’s wild beauty in a controlled, modern format.

A perfect shade of blue draws you into the modern Kitchen, while mercury glass pendants add nostalgic warmth.  Dining Room beyond.

A hand-painted grasscloth wallcovering, antique Murano glass chandelier and antique mirror ceiling accent are timeless anchors to complement the heirloom furnishings.

An antique Italian triptych is displayed over a quintessentially Southern, 4-post bed.

A custom-blended, marble mosaic floor anchors this space with its timeless beauty.  Modern his-&-hers vanities respond to the unique angles of the room.
